Spiritual awakening is simply being more conscious of your true self. The true self with expansive being, undefined potential, and a larger purpose. It is the beginning of discovering the self in a new light.
Here are the signs of spiritual awakening.
1. You begin to understand energy flow
Cosmic energy or supreme consciousness is always there, unblocked and free-flowing. When you become spiritually awakened, you begin to sense these energies. You can rely on your gut feeling of not feeling safe around someone, you can instantly tell if someone is lying, and you can tell about someone’s positive or negative energy by being around them.
Everyone is connected through energy. Our emotions and thoughts affect each other. Did you know that when you feel anger towards someone who has harmed you, you actually feed that person with your energy? Forgiving the person disconnects the energy cord and heals you in return. Similarly, when you practice gratitude and thank someone, you raise vibrations for both yourself and the other person.
You are a spiritually awakened soul if you already feel a lot of it.
2. Question worldly beliefs
Following the spiritual path will make you question a lot of pre-defined beliefs, rules, and norms you have been taught so far. It initiates questioning of limitations posed by conventional wisdom, including societal norms, cultural customs, or religious doctrines. You are no longer convinced about the popular definition of success. You begin to look at people differently, and ‘social stature’ may have a limited impact on you.
It’s important to note that questioning pre-existing world beliefs does not necessarily mean rejecting them outright. In fact, you rather respect everyone’s beliefs and opinions but gracefully differ from them. You are now in your peaceful space of the knowledge of self, with more clarity and certainty than ever before.
Sounds familiar? If you haven’t thought about reinventing your formula for success, life, and spirituality, do that now. Embrace your newfound wisdom.
3. No ego
Do you see a dramatic shift in your ego self? One of the most profound impacts of spiritual awakening is letting go of the ego. With the belief in one humanity and universe, spirituality simply has no space for ego. Slowly, but gradually you become more humble and less triggered with less or more attention. You are unperturbed by other people’s behavior, thoughts, and actions toward you. If you have taken your first step towards ego death, it is one of the signs of spiritual awakening.
4. Become more authentic, more conscious
One of the signs of spiritual awakening is peeling off the made-up face and bringing out your more authentic being. You begin to realize that the world needs more of you rather than some version of you that isn’t your true self. You do not shy away from honesty, vulnerability, weaknesses, and strengths. You begin to accept yourself and others as they are.
5. Empathy
Empathy is a natural byproduct of spiritual awakening. The basic human behavior is to love and be compassionate, which amplifies when you are more connected to your inner self. You will get much more impacted than your old self when you pass by someone who is hungry or helpless, you would want to help the child crying on the street, you would like to donate more than ever before, and you would be in tears after an emotionally charged scene in a movie.
Being more empathetic is a sign that you are no longer ambivalent about others around you. It gives you enormous strength to understand your emotions and that of others, giving you an additional edge with high emotional intelligence. As you move ahead on the journey of spiritual awakening, you will begin to manage your emotions better, making you incredibly successful not just in your relationships, but also at work. Studies show that people with high emotional intelligence are more likely to get promoted, become better leaders, and can earn better.
6. Forgiveness comes more naturally
One of the signs of spiritual awakening is that forgiveness doesn’t remain a topic of internal deliberation or debate for you. Forgiveness comes at an unexpected ease as you begin to understand the actions and intentions of others, including those who have harmed you. You can now easily put yourself in someone’s shoes, acknowledge their triggers of wrongdoing, and inculcate the subconscious habit of forgiving and forgetting.
7. You begin to see synchronicity in life
In spirituality, it is believed that there are no coincidences. Spiritual awakening helps you decipher the coincidences into beautiful synchronicities they have to offer. All the major life events are a part of the synchronization, with the first event being the cause of the recent one in your life. You remove any one tiny bit of the past, and your present transforms into something less ideal for you.
8. Intuition
Do you sometimes know someone is at the door, even before the bell rings? Do you often experience a sense of déjà vu of reliving a moment? We all have some intuitive skills because we all inherit wise souls. This subconscious knowing of all is often resurfaced when we become spiritually awakened. You begin to get responses to your questions and the direction and purpose of life with your intuitive self.
9. An insatiable thirst to explore
Once you get a glimpse of the marvelous spiritual journey, you begin to invest more time and energy in understanding the nuances. You hang out with like-minded people, travel to explore places and cultures that resonate with you, read more spiritual books, explore seminars and workshops on the subject, and more importantly, begin working on your weaknesses. You start practicing and exploring all aspects of spirituality.
10. Purpose of life
Triggered to find the purpose of your life? This is a sign of spiritual awakening. As you become more aligned with your life’s calling and less with how life should be, you tune into your higher self.
Defining and exploring your life’s purpose becomes a topic of utmost relevance to you, the realization of which alters your career path and life choices. It becomes a profound and transformative inquiry, leading to a deep understanding of yourself and your unique role in the world. This exploration often involves self-reflection, introspection, and engaging in practices such as meditation or journaling.
11. Signs and symbols
There are numerous ways in which the universe connects, one of which is repetitive signs and symbols that come your way. When you practice mindfulness in the moment, you begin to see synchronic incidents, indicative symbols, and repetitive events, patterns, or numbers.
However, deciphering the difference between a sign and your mind’s making can be confusing. In most cases, you will know the difference if you have a non-judgmental, egoless state of mind. If these signs persist or become even more peculiar and impossible to overlook, consider these as meaningful communication from the universe. For example, pay attention to your thoughts if you locate a unique feather in the middle of the house or a shopping mall. If the same feather is found in a park, chances are that you may be making it all up.
12. Conscious Actions
A prominent sign of spiritual awakening is an increased sensitivity to your actions and thoughts. Gradually, you become acutely aware of the profound influence they possess over your life and those around you. This newfound awareness prompts you to adopt a more conscious approach to decision-making and prompts you to exercise caution when making choices that shape your existence.
13. Spend time in nature
If you have found an unexplained growing inclination to spend time in nature, you are on your journey to an awakened self. You would want to go out for long walks or change your travel plans to river sides, mountains, and beaches. The serene landscapes, the gentle rustling of leaves, the rhythmic flow of rivers, and the vibrant colors of flowers will evoke a sense of awe, help you heal, and connect with the universe.
14. You are able to meditate and you like it
Meditation is your sure-shot gateway to awakening. In fact, it is the only way to enlightenment. You may continue reading the signs, become an incredible human being, or find the best spiritual guru in the world. The journey to knowing yourself is incomplete without delving deep inside of you. The more you practice meditation, the better equipped you are to raise vibrations, seek utmost clarity, and seek responses to all questions. With every meditation, you gain a more peaceful mind and a healthier body.
15. You practice universal love and appreciate diversity
If you are experiencing kindness and warmth for everyone, it is one of the signs of spiritual awakening. Your love extends beyond selectivity or favoritism as you embrace the expansive nature of your being and strive to treat everyone with respect and compassion. You no longer discriminate between individuals, choosing to imbibe the ethos of doing good for all.
Another shift is accepting people the way they are. You begin to appreciate the beauty of diversity in opinions, beliefs, and cultures. Rather than imposing your own perspectives onto others, you develop a genuine openness and curiosity toward different ways of thinking and living. This newfound acceptance allows you to engage in meaningful dialogues and foster connections with individuals from various backgrounds.
16. Shift in priorities
Once you experience inner peace, nothing can be more important. Rather than getting entangled in petty arguments or engaging in unnecessary confrontations, you choose to prioritize your inner peace above all else. You recognize the futility of investing your energy in conflicts that lack depth or meaningful resolution.
Furthermore, your spiritual awakening prompts you to be discerning in your relationships. You become more aware of the impact of people’s energies on your well-being. Consequently, you consciously distance yourself from negative and toxic individuals who drain your positivity and hinder your personal growth. By creating a space that safeguards your inner peace, you proactively surround yourself with individuals who support your journey and uplift your spirit.
17. Unconditional acceptance of life flow
A powerful aspect of spiritual awakening is the profound acceptance of the natural ebb and flow of life. It is a state where you find yourself bowing down to the inherent rhythm of existence, embracing the unfolding journey with grace and gratitude. This acceptance is not resignation, it is a genuine recognition of the inherent wisdom and purpose in every experience. Instead of viewing challenging situations as setbacks, you perceive them as valuable opportunities for growth and transformation. You believe in learnings, growth, and transformation over anything else.
